June felt like magician’s hat month, producing rabbits, scarves, durations, events, paradigm flips that far exceeded its actual length. And underlining this temporal mismatch was the experience of recording the audiobook for my 600-page novel The Madonna Secret that comes out this August.
The frame narrative of the novel is that Leukas (who will become the Luke of the synoptic Gospels) travels up to Gaul to receive the Magdalene’s story from her own lips before she dies. And she tells him her story, preparing him that it will not be the story he expects, in the course of a single night.
