Sophie, I really honor the natural and totally heartfelt beauty of your raw honesty and authenticity; this expression of who you are penetrates into my heart like a reverse bee-sting delivering honey and profound nourishment. To live in your body and share so passionately with all of us “out here” is such a testimony and a pointing of the way to those of us who need to evoke and practice the kind of courage that you bring forth into words and images, speaking to us of the extraordinary moment we are all living in, the moment between birth and death, the caterpillar and the butterfly, the potent possibility of transformation that we can awaken to if we so choose...your choice is evident and burns with a lovely, lively warmth, lighting the way that is before us all in these so often dark and overcast days in the climate of our collective psyche. Thank you for keeping your inner sun shining SO brightly🌞🦋

This was really helpful in navigating with my friend who lost their husband (also a dear friend) last week. It inspires me to let people (especially in spiritual communities) know that just because 'everything is perfect' doesn't mean they need to be ok.

Also, baby pictures seem to be good things to sprinkle into conversations.

I typed several grateful responses - and I'll just leave it at this. Thank you Sophie. Your writing and generous sharing of your thinking spark lines of thought in me that help me recognize who I really am and aid me to align with those values and longings. These reminders of the tenderness and care we can weave into our greeting of each other are incredibly helpful. xoxooxoxo you are one of my favorite friends to visit in this weird digital world. I can only hope that the love and appreciation I send into the ether toward you can begin to offer some kind of reciprocity. I am in your debt.

This is such a vital and truly insightful commentary. I have been known to warn patients about how awkward and inappropriate family and friends can be when trying to be "helpful.' Folks really don't know what to say. It is more common for folks to be very far off base, no matter what the intention. Exactly true. Some folks tell about their own medical issues or diseases///others tell of someone they think is worse [ Oy ! ] and still others forget to say or imply the truth : It is unimaginable. Simply unimaginable.

I will admit to enjoying a compliment on my hair, especially when it secretly hasn't been washed in a few weeks.

I also enjoy being asked about what flavors I am craving.

thank you. This has felt like a mine field for me as I have more and more friends going through physical challenges. I needed these prompts so I feel better prepared to stay present with them in a positive way for both of us.

I loved this so much, in particular this one: "What is life like right now for you? I’m able to listen to the truth and I care about you. Paint me a picture."

Thank you for sharing and sending you lots of love <3

Thanks for the great advice. Did you see Anais in Love? A beautiful French love story for the real mantic I understand you are. I started reading the book you recommended...Andy Clark's the Experience Machine. I am very excited by the premise. But I wish scientists were better poets. That is one of the reasons I follow you: you are a sciencey poet.
